Press the release handle on top of the glue gun with your thumb and pull the plunger up. The plunger is the portion of the gun that has a round disc at the end. The disc is set to the end of the caulking tube to press the caulk tube.

Insert the sliding barn door hardware kits into the glue gun. Push the plunger down until it clicks into the top of the tube. Cut off the tip of the tube with a knife at an angle of 45 degrees. Enter a long nail in the tube tip to pierce the seal of the inner cartridge and remove the nail. Wipe the outer edges of window and door frames with a cloth, which are outside the house.
Place a ladder on the sliding barn door hardware kits, if necessary. Start at the top left corner of the window or door frame and pull the trigger of the glue gun to apply the putty. Apply a bead of caulk 1/8 inch evenly on top of the frame. Continue applying a bead of sealant around both sides and the bottom of the door frames and windows. Apply sealant between the bottom of the door sills and exterior of the house as well.
