Place a tackless band on the lowest floor with small pin facing away from you. Center the marker line on the marker line on the staircase runners. Then, move the tape back until it is one inch from the back of the stairs. Hammer in nails on top of the strip to secure it in place. Also repeat the process to install the remaining tackless strips on each stair.
